Swedish Toast

Here's a reader's comment from the New York Times, in reference to Al Gore winning the Nobel Peace Prize:

"He's just what this country needs to put the planet back together again"

How does this guy make the leap from "this country" to its apparent task of putting "the planet back together"? A little pompous, no? Sounds like no other people exist aside from The Americans. What a terrible thought.
